i’ve stepped into a time machine today.
i’ve gone all the way back to the wonderful year of 1986. that moment in time that gave us comet halley’s full perihelion, the challenger explosion, and the death of cliff burton.
wait a minute…..reading through the events of 1986, i’m kind of noticing a trend here.
1986 really sucked!
i sat through 2 movies that were released in 1986 and that made me realize that 1986 was a long time ago!
movies:

flight of the navigator – ufo’s, time travel, space, nasa, a young sarah jessica parker, dogs catching frisbees in slow motion, bad 80’s acting, and even johnny fever. it could be the best live action movie that disney made during the 80’s and i think it was responsible for actually helping the studio get out of the “red” in the live action movie department. the cheese factor is heavy, but it’s a childhood favorite. still worked for me. the effects are pretty rough though, so be warned.

maximum overdrive – the movie that was originally rated x upon it’s release in 1986, 21 years later, the movie is still pretty ass when it comes to plot. but, if you want to see a waitress get attacked by electric carver or a little league coach get his brain smashed in by a pissed of coke machine, this it the movie for you. a young emilio estevez trys to look tough and the trucks actually roar at some points in the film. there’s even a scene of some kid getting rolled over by a steamroller! i would love to see the x-rated version sometime. thank you 1986!
after that, i stopped watching movies from 1986.
